Torrevieja

The popular town of Torrevieja is situated along the coast to the south of Guardamar and La Mata, just 40 minutes south of Alicante airport. In recent years the town has become a favourite tourist and residential area, making it one of the leading resorts along the Mediterranean coastline.

It has an excellent climate with year-round sunshine and an average daily temperature of 18°C. There are marvellous coves in the northern part, as well as the saline swimming pools, which can be found beside the Juan Aparicio promenade right in the centre of the town.

It is no wonder Torrevieja has been voted by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places in the world to live. The reason for this is Torrevieja is surrounded by two of Europe’s largest salt lakes known as Laguna de la Mata and the Salinas de San Miguel. The high concentration of salt, together with the temperature forms what the experts call a "micro-climate" unique to this area and just a few others around the world.

An ideal location for a summer or winter sun holiday with an average of 320 days sunshine each year. The area is regarded by the World Health Organisation as having the healthiest climate in Europe. Torrevieja has a busy marina, waterfront market, palm-lined promenades and a beautiful church square, as well as all the amenities one could desire -  superb educational and healthcare facilities, shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, museums and parks, including a great water park - Something for everyone.

All of the local beaches hold the European Blue Flag for ‘Clean Sea’ and excellent facilities. La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión and Los Náufragos together make up the beaches of the Torreviejan coast. It is an ideal place for family holidays and yet it still retains that special "Spanish" feel and is very relaxing and welcoming.

There are bus services from Playa Flamenca to Torrevieja centre throughout the year.

Beaches

The Orihuela Costa has some of the best beaches in Europe. This area has 7 EU blue flag beaches. These vary from the very active beaches with a full range of water sports, activities & services to secluded rocky and sandy coves. All of the major beaches have first aid posts and most have refreshment areas.

Playa Flamenca is the nearest beach to the house, about 15 minute walk. There is a beautiful walk along the cliffs to Torrvieja Marina. Other beaches close by are La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor, Cala Captain and ‘Playa la Puntica’ on the beautiful Mar Menor.

Villamartin Plaza is just a 10-15 minute drive away. The plaza contains many restaurants, including English, German, Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Italian & Swedish. There are also some fine dining restaurants, which use only the best local produce. Bars in the Plaza include a sports bar (where betting is available), a karaoke bar, pool & bowling.

Many of the bars have live music and entertainment from ‘Elvis’ to ‘Blues Brothers’ tributes. There are also a supermarket, banks, clinic and gift shops there.

The atmosphere is wonderful in the evening and throughout the day parrots sing from the top of the palm trees.

Commercial Centres

There are lots of popular commercial centres nearby. These are centres with bars, restaurants and small shops. They often have evening entertainment too.

The Citrus Commercial Centre is around the corner with bars, restaurants and a row of lemon trees.

The famous Flamenca Beach Commercial Centre and La Mosca Commercial Centre is 10 minute walk away where you have many Bars, Restaurants, Cafes Shops, Pharmacy and Banks. Most bars have evening entertainment ranging from Opera to Karaoke! In the summer there are other attractions e.g. bouncy castles and fortune telling.

There is Via Park II 10 minute walk towards La Zenia Boulevard.

There is the Celtic Isle bar 10 minutes away which has water slides etc which is perfect for children.
